Kathy Alef has been a student of yoga since 1976 . Certified at Intermediate Junior III, she is inspired by the profound and sensitive teachings of yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar. As the faculty chair of the Iyengar Yoga Institute’s Advanced Studies/Teacher Training program, Kathy teaches and supports the Institute as an inspiring fountain of classic yoga knowledge for dedicated students. Her regular visits to Pune, India to study with the Iyengar family enriches and nourishes her own practice and teachings. Kathy’s expertise in teaching clearly, precisely, and safely helps each student unveil their unique yogic journey.

Victoria Austin has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 30 years, and Iyengar yoga for over 20 years. A 1988 graduate of IYISF, she has 20 years of teaching experience, and is Certified at the Intermediate Junior III level. As an ordained Zen priest, Victoria emphasizes how to extend one’s practice into daily life, particularly one’s own behavior, work and community. She studies regularly in India with the Iyengar family.

Nora Burnett has been teaching since 1988. A graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute Advanced Studies/ Teacher Training Program, she is certified Junior Intermediate III. She has had the opportunity to study in India with the Iyengars 6 times and at home with Senior teachers. As a current faculty member and public class teacher, Nora is grateful to share the knowledge, passed on to her, with others. She brings many years of experience in dance and bodywork to her understanding of anatomy, function, physical challenges, and the human spirit- all of which are a source of continual learning and fascination.

She has a B.S. in Natural Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and she also earned a masters’ degree in Integral Health Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She has taught extensively in the Bay Area, including four years as adjunct professor at San Francisco State University; two years adjunct at the California Institute of Integral Studies; and thirteen years core faculty in the Iyengar Yoga Institute’s Yoga Teacher Training Program. She is a perpetual student and continues her studies of Yoga and Ayurveda in the US and India.

Jaki Nett has studied yoga for over 25 years, and taught yoga for more than 20 years, and teaches workshops all over the world. She also holds an MA in Humanistic Psychology. Jaki has a strong interest in functional anatomy that she intertwines in her teaching. Jaki has studied extensively with the Iyengar family in India, and is certified at the Intermediate Senior I level.

Jito Yumibe began her yoga studies in 1978 and began teaching in 1984. She attended the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco as well as studying with the Iyengars in India and the U.S. She also studied for several years with Ramanand Patel. Currently she resides in San Jose, teaching and co-directing a studio there.
